Duration: 60 Minutes We can take a maximum of 25 students per class
What you can expect Each incursion starts with a short Safety Talk & the students try on safety spectacles.
Everybody within one group works on the same project. This way each student can easily follow Jim's demonstration.
Then the "serious" woodworking begins.
Jim facilitates the students where needed & asks leading questions to help guide them through their own creative process.
Each student makes (and takes home) her/his own proper wooden toy.
If that's not enough,
each student then gets even more creative in their own individual UNSTRUCTURED way with our creative box of random wooden shapes, blocks, and dowels.
This often leads to some very surprising results!
In addition ...
If you let us know in advance, we will do our best to incorporate the learning intentions of your class within the guidelines of the (revised) Victorian Curriculum.
We can incorporate learning areas such as History & Geography, Science, Design & Technologies, Critical & Creative Thinking, Economics & Business (Year 5 - 6) & cross-curriculum priorities including Sustainability Education (which is embedded within all our incursions).
Our incursions also tie in really well with the STEM/STEAM inquiry units.
Our current choices of wooden toys:
$450 + GST per group/incursion For distances from 15 km we have to incur a flat rate of $25 travel cost. For distances from 25 km, the travel cost is $50.
Jim and I sat together and spent hours (days really) tailoring the VEYLDF Learning Outcomes to our Little Woodworkers® incursions to show you the benefits. So, please take advantage of them. They're perfect for the student's school reports (after the incursion).
