Finding the right kinder or school incursion can be difficult.
You need it to be:
Educational, value for money, fun AND it has to fulfill the Learning Outcomes of the EYLF, tie in with the STEM/STEAM inquire units ...
Preferably with potential for follow-up lessons/activities.
We get it. And we can help!
We are Little Woodworkers®
We facilitate exclusive FUN and ENGAGING woodwork incursions for preschool and primary school children as they make their own quality wooden toy AND learn about environmental sustainability in a unique and memorable way.
JIM - the toy maker & incursion facilitator
Jim Begleyis the creator and face of Little Woodworkers®.
He is the (one and only) facilitator of our Little Woodworkers®incursions. During his visits, Jim incorporates a fun engaging demonstration about nature, trees and caring for our environment.
In just over 2 years since starting Little Woodworkers®, Jim has facilitated over 500 woodwork incursions in both preschool and primary schools with over 10,000 children making their own wooden toys and loving it.
Jim loves seeing when the children make the connection between their environment and every day wooden items.
Jim has 30 years experience in furniture designing and making, twenty years of which he worked for himself. Jim has made furniture for a "little"known Irish band called U2 and the Irish Prime Minister. Originally from Ireland, Jim is a proud Dad to his two young children, Anna and Charlie.
Jim's aim is to encourage a new generation to be creative with wood. He wants the children to remember this experience (for good).
Jim's light bulb moment
Jim did a 'Show & Tell' at his daughter's kindergarten in August 2013.
He was amazed at how much the children enjoyed the making process and impressed at how much they were capable of at such a young age.
The children proudly admired what THEY had accomplished. That pride on their little face sparked the idea of Little Woodworkers®.
Kerstin Begley is Jim's wife and mum to their two young children.
She runs the show behind the scenes of Little Woodworkers® and she's yourfirst point of contact.
Originally from Germany, Kerstin traveled to Ireland at 25 for six months. She stayed for 10 years!
In Ireland Kerstin studied Journalism whilst working for Ireland's National Broadcaster. She considers herself a "tiny bit Irish".
Kerstin has 20+ years combined experience in Office Management, Customer Service and website creation. She loved creating this site. She enjoys making contacts & loves connecting with people.
